- A pH kit with strips to test the alkalinity before and after the process
- A kit with pH drops in case you want to make it using those
The Process
The process is very basic and simple. First, you have to determine the current pH of the water you are using. It is done so that you know exactly how much adjustment is needed to bring it to an Alkaline level. The normal pH is 7 however the impurities in it tend to make it acidic with pH lower than 7. This means we have to take the pH around 8-9.
Test it by dipping the pH strip in it and let it sit for a while. After sometime when the strip changes color, compare the color obtained with the pH chart you have in the kit. Once you have the updated level, the next step is to alkalinize the water. This can be achieved using 2 methods
1. Adding pH Drops:
pH drops are easily available highly concentrated and potent alkali drops meant for increasing the alkalinity. Based on the directions on the bottle, it is easy for anyone to add a few drops to make the water Alkaline. The bottle is feasible to carry around in your bag in case you want the supply of Alkaline Water anywhere. However, the water available will not always be distilled or pure. It is therefore suggested to find some which is purified by reverse osmosis and then use the drops.
2. Using Baking Soda:
A simple method is also using baking soda. The chemical compound is readily available in supermarkets and is white powder. What you have to do is mix 1/8 teaspoons of baking soda in an ounce of RO purified water. Mix it rigorously till it is blended. Now check the pH using a strip and make sure it is between 8-9 which is ideal for your health. For people on strict low sodium diets, this method shouldn’t be used as baking soda has a very high sodium content.
